About Amy Murillo, FNP

Amy came from a strong Navy family; her great-grandfather, grandfather, father, and husband were all in the United States Navy. She relocated to TX in 2012 from Connecticut when her husband retired from the Navy to be closer to his elderly parents. She obtained her Master's degree for Family Nurse Practitioner from St. Joseph's College of Maine in May 2018 and received her Bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington in December 2015. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Amy worked for 2 years as a Registered Nurse in a Level II Trauma Emergency Room; prior to that, she worked for 3 years as a cardiovascular nurse on a ICU/CCU step down unit. Before that, she worked for a year as a medical-surgical nurse in an acute care hospital; lastly, prior to that she worked for 3 years as a Registered Nurse in a nursing home in Connecticut.

Amy became interested in pursuing a nursing career when her infant son was diagnosed with cancer in 1996. He is now a healthy 22-year-old college student and she is still continuing her education in pursuing a post master's degree in emergency/trauma medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.

Amy also has a 12-year-old daughter who keeps her busy with her after school activities, including playing the violin in orchestra and volleyball.
